Leopold started Nannerl on keyboard when she was seven, as three-year old Wolfgang looked on. In 1940, he immigrated to the US and taught at Yale University, and six years later he obtained American citizenship. Apart from his many famous works there are numerous lesser known masterpieces such as a Liturgy, that reflects a deeply spiritual side (check out Hymn of The Cherubim). The first is unusual though arguably Chopin’s most beloved Nocturne, the second piece is almost unknown and hardly ever performed, and the third is an all time favorite.

When he was just 7 years old, he composed his first piece - a polonaise. Indeed, it has been said that the real difficulty in playing even the etudes lies in the accompanying material, usually given to the left hand. In April 1848, persuaded by his Scottish pupil, Jane Stirling, Chopin left for England and Scotland. In his last years, he was financially supported by his admirer Jane Stirling, who also arranged for him to visit Scotland in 1848.
